Glenn was born August 22, 1929 in Wellsville, Ohio to George Harvey and Wilma Leota Hieney Tackett. He was baptized August, 1958 at South Lebanon Nazarene Church in South Lebanon, Ohio. On January 24, 1948, Glenn married Ruth Chatman at Elmwood Nazarene Church in Elmwood, Ohio. Glenn obtained an electrical engineering degree through General Electric and was employed at GE for 22 years. He was later an employee of Cameron Iron Works as the maintenance manager. Glenn was a member of Champion Fellowship Church of Brenham, the Men''s Bible Study group, and a volunteer for H.O.S.T.S. He also assisted his wife Ruth with at home day care by rocking the babies. His hobbies included law enforcement, painting, feeding wild birds and gospel music. He was also a huge fan of Bill O''Riley. Glenn was happiest when he was spending time with his wife and children, as well as with his beloved cat, "Missy". Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Tackett and Melodie of Brenham; Kevin Tackett and Pam of Houston; Jeff Tackett and Wendy of Brenham; and Todd Tackett and Deb of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda Gaertner and Kenneth of Brenham; Karen Williams and Scott of Houston; Teresa Gaskamp and Daniel of Brenham; Lisa Bonnes and Bruce of Bryan. Grandchildren: Greg Rhonda Craigen and Travis Goodwin, Jason and Betsy Gaertner, Shawn and Alison Tackett, Drew Merryman, Meridith and Bryan Miller, James and Heather Martin , Andrea and Aimee Scarbrough, Misti, Mindi Jeramie, Melanie and Jordan Gaskamp, Ross Bonnes, Lacey Bonnes and Alisha Derek Ingraham, Matt and Derek Dean, Kyle and Brett Tackett, Lindsey and Tracy Alford, David, Darrell, Darcee and Dean Haveman, Zachary Williams, Lori Jo Williams, Tim Harper, Cory Russell, Brandy Russell and Shelly Hackney. Great-grandchildren: Heather Goodwin, Cassidy Craigen, Braden Gaertner, Ashley, Justin, Brandon, Cameron, Luke Tackett, Olivia DeBerardino, Izak Williams, Tristan and Addy Martin, Hanna and Mark Vinklarek, Colton and Cayden Alford, Elizabeth Ingraham. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Rena Reed, Dottie and Hugo Layne, and Sonya and Bob Luke; cousins Walt and Vera Tackett, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a son-in-law, Lenny Goodwin. Funeral services for Glennis Neville Tackett will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Champion Fellowship, 304 E. Lubbock St., Brenham with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter''s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gay Hill. The family will receive family and friends at Memorial Oaks Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Alan Tackett, Kevin Tackett, Jeff Tackett, Todd Tackett, Greg Goodwin, and Shawn Tackett. Memorials may be directed to Champion Fellowship Church of Brenham-Building Fund. Funeral services have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
