Gloria Herzog

Gloria Herzog, 74, of Brenham, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Herzog was born July 16, 1929, in the New Wehdem community of Washington County, Texas, to Theodore and Erna Haevischer Winkelmann. She was baptized Aug. 25, 1929, in St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem and was confirmed in 1944 in the same church. Mrs. Herzog attended New Wehdem schools. On Aug. 10, 1974, she married Leroy Herzog in Salem Lutheran Church in Salem. Mrs. Herzog was a retired shipping manager at Old Brazos Forge. She was very active in Salem Lutheran Church, where she was in the Ruth Circle and was a past Luther League sponsor. She enjoyed quilting and dancing. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Burt Preissinger of Granbury; son-in-law, Arbie Wassermann of Brenham; stepson, Mark Herzog of Bryan; stepdaughter, Debbie Herzog of Houston; grandchildren, Kindy and Greg Preissinger of Granbury, Kaci and Roan Eschete of Brenham and Scotty and Stacy Wassermann of College Station; great-grandchildren, McGee and Kramer Eschete, Thornne Ray Wassermann, Billy Dillon and Alyssa Dillon; brother and sister-in-law, Wilfred and Ora Nell Winkelmann of Brenham; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Reeves of Somerville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Walter Hegefeld; her second husband, Leroy Herzog on Oct. 10, 2002; and her daughter, Loretta Wassermann. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7 in Salem Lutheran Church in Salem with Pastors Bill Derrick and Mike Widner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbeares will be Bryan Klussmann, Raymond Klussmann, Darrell Winkelmann, Nathan Winkelmann, Kenneth Winkelmann, Rodney Gandy, Tyler Gandy and William Winkelmann. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
