Gloria Schmidt

Gloria Ann Schmidt, 74, of Welcome, TX, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2020 in Welcome, TX.

Gloria was born on February 12, 1946 in Brenham, TX to Walter and Lenora (Glaesmann) Hahn. She was baptized on March 31, 1946, then confirmed on March 26, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. At LaBahia Dance Hall, she met Henry William Schmidt III and they were married on April 19, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church.

She was a 1964 graduate of Brenham High School and a member of Welcome Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were very special to her and she loved them dearly. In her free time, she loved taking care of her lawn. Keeping it beautiful was important to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Floyd Hahn, an infant brother; father-in-law, Henry Schmidt Jr; mother-in-law, Nelda Schmidt; an infant Brother-in-Law; and niece Sherry Bright.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Henry William Schmidt III of Welcome; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Jana Schmidt of Katy, TX; daughter and son-in-law Kimberley and Brian Moore of Austin, TX; Sisters-in-Law Dorothy Hahn and Virginia Brandt both of Brenham, TX; Grandchildren, Trevor Schmidt, Tanner Schmidt, Brandon Moore and Whitney Moore; great nieces and great-great nieces and nephew.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 11, 2020 at Welcome Lutheran Cemetery in Welcome, TX with Pastor John Sutton officiating. Due to COVID-19, for those attending and wish to remain in their vehicle, please tune your radio to FM-87.9 to listen.

A visitation will be from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Faist, Clemons Faist, Kirby Klump, James Balke, Edward Lee Wensel and Calvin Boeker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Parish, Marilyn Wensel and other friends of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Welcome Lutheran Church of Welcome, TX and Hospice Brazos Valley.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
