Greg was born in Lubbock, Texas to Alvin Dale and Veda (Tanner) Joiner on February 10, 1957, and was raised in IdaLou, Texas. The family eventually moved to Lubbock.

Greg graduated from Frenship High School, Wolfforth, Texas, in 1975. His early working career was in the agricultural industry. He joined Southern Supply and later joined Southern Marketing Affiliates working in sales for 38 years until his death.

Greg married Nancy Yvonne Hemann in 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota. This union was blessed with three sons, Joshua Daniel, Matthew Gregory and Jacob Tanner. Greg was a wonderful husband and father.

When his sons were young and in 4-H, the entire family enjoyed raising and showing dairy cattle. Greg made many friends throughout his involvement with the organization, and these relationships lasted a lifetime.

Greg was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving on the GLC Youth Board and School Board.

Greg was an avid golfer and played with his favorite golf group on Friday mornings.

He enjoyed breakfast with his “Santa Fe Café family”, meeting Monday through Friday at their “reserved table.” He loved this time and conversations talking about the community and politics.

Greg is survived by his wife, Nancy Joiner; sons, Joshua Joiner of Needville, Matthew Joiner of Bryan and Jacob Joiner of Brenham; brothers and sister-in-law, Brad Joiner of Emory and Jeff and Jeanne Joiner of Salado and their families; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vickie and Billy Ashorn, Jackie and Craig Kankel, Kellie and Kevin Goessler, all of Brenham, and Scott Hemann of Conroe and their families; and special cousins, Bid and Grace Smith and Pam Prall, all of Livingston.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Ashorn, Bryn Behnke, Ryan Gresham, William Kankel, Brent Michalak and Chad Joiner.

Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Blake, Alan Reid, Aubrey Jaster, the Santa Fe Café breakfast group and his golfing friends.
