Gregory Fred Wagner, 47, of Burton, died Friday, December 3, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center.

He was born December 30, 1956 in Brenham to Clarence & Ruby Kiel Wagner and grew up in Round Top, TX. Gregory was baptized and later confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1975. On June 26, 1976 he married Cynthia Louise Fuchs in St. John's United Church of Christ in Burton, where he was an active member until the time of his death. He played volleyball, softball, and served for many years on the Christian Education Board. He was a youth sponsor, and cooked for HeeHaw Family Nights. He helped wherever he could.

Gregory's greatest joy was his family. He was blessed with two sons, Cullen and Cameron. They shared a love for sports, especially golf, rodeos, and the outdoors. On September 19, 2003, he became Pops to a precious grandson, Colby Wade, and looked forward to spending time with him. Greg was friendly and outgoing and never met a stranger. He was not afraid of hard work. Greg's faithful volunteer efforts at the annual Cotton Gin Festival were a labor of love and he will be greatly missed. His special gift was cooking and he was never happier than preparing a meal for family and friends. He loved dancing and was always proud of Cindy's singing. He spent many years as a land surveyor. At the time of his death he was employed as a driver for Jimmie Hahn, Inc., a job he truly loved.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cindy, his sons, Cullen Grant Wagner & wife, Melissa of New Ulm, Cameron Glace Wagner of Carmine and his special friend, Shanna Handrick of Fedor, grandson, Colby Wade Wagner of New Ulm, father & step-mother, Clarence & Shirley Wagner of Round Top, brother Gary Wagner & wife, Linda of Brenham, sister Becky Exner & husband Rodney of Lexington, brothers-in-law, Robert Fuchs & wife Rosie, Curtis Fuchs & wife Kathy, and father-in-law, Franklin Fuchs all of Burton, nieces Alisa Wagner Niemeyer & husband Myles, Erin Wagner & fiancé Tim Pepper, Christy Fuchs Moran & husband, David, Courtney Fuchs Mason & husband, Wes, nephews Justin Fuchs, Cody Fuchs, Brandon Exner & wife, Amy, Dustin Exner, two great nephews, Parker Mason & Braden Exner and one great-niece Bailey Exner.

Gregory is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby in 1998 and his mother-in-law, LaVerne in 2003.

Funeral services for Gregory Fred Wagner were held Sunday afternoon, December 5 at 3:00 p.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ in Burton with Reverend Glen Schoeneberg and assistant Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers included his nephews and his friend Cody Carroll. Honorary pallbearers included Charlie Marland, Brady Russell, Kurt Roemer, Vance Winkelmann and his friends and co-workers at Jimmie Hahn, Inc.

Memorials may be given to St. John s UCC Building Fund.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
