Gus Korthauer

Gustav Heinrich John Carl Gus Korthauer, 91, of Brenham passed away June 6, 2007 after a long struggle with Limb Girdle Dystrophy. He was born in Washington County near Long Point on August 26, 1915 to Herman and Malinda Kettler Korthauer. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville on November 21, 1915 by Pastor Karl Mueller. He was confirmed by Pastor Mueller on April 13, 1930, and educated in Long Point Schools. He married Dora Prenzler on June 12, 1938 at St. John United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor E. Eiben presiding. He was engaged in farming and painting until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham at the time of his passing. Mr. Korthauer was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dora; sister Lorena; brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Louis and Olita Prenzler, Fritz and Norma Prenzler, George and Hulda Korthauer, and Malinda Prenzler. He is survived by his son Kenneth Korthauer and wife Patty; grandsons, Keith Korthauer and wife Kendra, the Rev. Jason Korthauer and wife Toni; great-grandchildren, Korrigan, Keaton, and Karis Korthauer, all of Brenham. Pallbearers are David Buck, Bruce Kettler, Kenneth Kettler, Maxwell Weidner, Dr. Bill Eikenhorst, Bill Winkelmann, Elwood Kettler, and Glenwood Prenzler. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Mickan, John Tremble, Arnold Knuppel, Pastor Bob Myers, Ronnie Hinze, Chester Lucherk, Gary Knipstein, Atwood Kenjura, The Rev. Dr. Reginald Holle, H. T. Ray, Alvin Hahn and John Weatherly. Visitation is planned with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church of Brenham at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8 with Rev. Mike Button officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be given in Mr. Korthauer s honor to Hospice Brenham and Christ Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
