Harold Jay Fincher, 78, of Burton, died Feb. 7, 2006, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Fincher was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Burton, to Thomas Roscoe and Celeste Moeller Fincher. He served in the U.S. Army Second Signal Corp as a cryptographer during World War II 1946-1947 and was a 1949 graduate of Texas A&M University. Mr. Fincher was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton, the American Legion Post 242 and the Full Gospel Business Men s Fellowship International. He was a retired property tax manager for Exxon Company USA. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Fincher of Burton and Carol Ann Rodabaugh of Houston; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Leigh and Christopher Rodabaugh; one brother, Ray Fincher of Brenham; one brother-in-law, John Cline of Houston; and two nieces, Sandra Fincher and Missy Browne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Elizabeth Cline Fincher; his parents; and brother, Thomas Roscoe Buddy Fincher, Jr. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Memorials may be given to St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
