Harold Dean Niday, 65, the eldest son of Rev. Frank Niday and Marie Clark Niday, Dean was born November 28, 1939, in Northfork, West Virginia. He entered into eternal rest May 12, 2005, at his home in Burton, Texas. After serving in the Air Force, he spent time as a grocery manager in Maryland, film director for KTBC-TV in Austin, and laundry service technician. Dean loved the outdoors and spent the last few years on his farm in Burton, where he enjoyed his John Deere tractor and lawnmower. Hunting, fishing and gun collecting were his hobbies. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Engelbrecht Niday; mother, Marie Niday of Princeton, West Virginia; daughter, Deana Chitwood and son-in-law, Robert Chitwood of Freeport, Texas; son, Harold Dean Niday, Jr., daughter, Deborah White and son-in-law, Alex White of Austin; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Jackson Niday of Bluefield, West Virginia, Teddy Niday of Princeton, West Virginia and Joe Niday of Roanoke, Virginia; and four sisters, Edna Mary Greenwood of Edmond, Oklahoma, Sylvia Proctor and Evelyn Niday, both of Clayton, North Carolina and Mary Coleman of Bluefield, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Frank Niday; one sister, Barbara Mercier; and two sons, Darren and Daniel Niday. The family will receive visitors from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16 in Foehner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Miller of Monticello, Mississippi officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Pallbearers include Ryan Henderson, Joshua Morrison, Erik Chitwood, Perry Mercier, Jr., Nathan Phillips, Harold Greenwood and Tyler Chitwood. Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in Brenham.
