Harold Oevermann

Harold Edle Oevermann, 75, of Burton, passed away January 5, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Oevermann was born March 3, 1933 in Washington County, Texas to August H. and Elsie Jaster Oevermann. He was baptized April 23, 1933 by Pastor Adolph Walton at St. John''s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Burton. On May 25, 1947, he was confirmed in the same church by Pastor Schwengel. He was engaged in the ranching business, and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of the Burton American Legion Martin Lewis Post No. 242, the Burton Fire Department, and St. John''s United Church of Christ. Survivors include brothers August Valeria Oevermann of Brenham; Louis Voncile Oevermann of Holiday, TN.; Edwin Oevermann of Houston; sisters Natalie Ginn of Burton and Rose Kenjura of Brenham; aunt, Lydia Oevermann of Brenham, and sister-in-law Marilyn Oevermann of Burton, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers George, Otto, and Charlie Oevermann; brothers-in-law Bernard Kenjura and Gerry Ginn, and a sister-in-law, Gladys Oevermann. Funeral services for Harold Edle Oevermann will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Mr. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will take place at Foehner Funeral Chapel in Burton from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers are nieces, nephews, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Burton Fire Department and Burton Café Round Table friends. Memorials may be directed to St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton.
