Harvey Wayne Penkert, 64, of Brenham, passed away November 23, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center of Bryan. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Emmanual Lutheran Church of Greenvine, with Pastor Rich Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Harvey Penkert was born January 26, 1947 in Brenham to Paul Charles and Erva Ida Oelschlegel Penkert. He was baptized June 8, 1947, and confirmed March 2, 1961 by Pastor Theo. Sager. Harvey was engaged in farming and ranching for most of his lifetime. He was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and a faithful worshipper his whole life. Survivors include his sister, Jo Ann Beckerman of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Patti Penkert of Burton; brother-in-law, Alton Moellering of Fredericksburg; nieces and nephews, Julie Weidemann and husband Troy; Doyle Moellering and wife Stacey, Dale Moellering and wife Joanne, Lloyd Beckermann and wife Shirley, and Roy Beckermann. Also surviving are numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Erva Penkert, a sister, Joylene Moellering, and a brother-in-law, Dennis Beckermann. Serving as pallbearers are Lloyd Beckermann, Roy Beckermann, Troy Weidemann, Doyle Moellering, Dale Moellering, and Darin Beckermann. Honorary pallbearers are Thelma and Marlyn Doppelhammer, Carolyn and Ralf Thiemer, Bonnie and Ronnie Schulte, and Ivy Geiger. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.
