Helen Minnie Henske Arning Fuchs, 86, of Brenham, died Nov. 26, 2003, in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. She was born on July 21, 1917, in Kenney, Austin County, Texas, the daughter of Will and Minnie Richter Henske. She was baptized in the Christian faith Oct. 21, 1917, by Pastor H. Poehlmann in New Wehdem. She was confirmed April 9, 1933, in St. John s Lutheran Church of Bellville by Pastor J.K. Pack. She was educated in the Kenney and Brenham schools. On July 7, 1940, she was united in marriage to Raymond William Arning by Pastor H.T. Flockmier. They moved to Brenham, and she worked for many years at Western Auto where she made many life-long friends. Their marriage of 29 years was blessed by the births of two daughters. Mr. Arning preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1970. On Sept. 21, 1973, Helen was joined in marriage to Alvis Lorenz Fuchs at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham by Pastor Jon Siemsglusz. They enjoyed 29 years of farm life in the Meyersville area. Mr. Fuchs preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2003. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and dominoes and dancing. She found great pleasure tending to her vegetable gardens and her flowers. She enjoyed baking and canning for her daughters families. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Walter Winkelmann of New Braunfels and Judy Ann and Ronald Haevischer of Brenham; granddaughter, Lori Ann Roland and husband Jerod of Garland; grandsons, Ryan Alan Haevischer and Darren Carl Haevischer, both of Brenham; great-grandsons, Trenton Prescott Roland and Brett William Roland, both of Garland; sisters and brother-in-law, Bernice and Joe Hintz of Sealy and Ruby Emshoff of Houston; brother and sisters-in-law, Will Jr. Sonny and Flora Ann Henske of Spring and Ruth Henske of Bellville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ervin Henske; brother-in-law, Bill Emshoff; granddaughter, Wendy Jo Winkelmann; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Ann Roland. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Nov.28 in Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham with burial to follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Memorials may be given to the Grace Lutheran School Endowment Fund of Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham.
