Helen Rogers, 77, of Brenham passed away December 6, 2008 in Brenham Rest Home. Mrs. Rogers was born February 10, 1931 in Clay, Texas to Robert Spencer and Helen Farquhar Rogers. She was educated in Clay area schools and Brenham High School. Miss Rogers was a homemaker, and a member of the Independence Baptist Church for 62 years. In addition, she was a member of the William Penn EE Club for48 years. She enjoyed visiting with her friends on the phone, and sending out birthday cards. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Tommy Newmann of Brenham; nieces Connie Ray Averitt, and Gayle Newman; great-nephews Kevin and Casey Newman, Misti and Daniel Perez, Matthew Averitt; great-great nephew Lane and Taylyn Perez, and a special friend, Mary Helen Cade. Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant brother and special nephew, Tommy Gene Newman. Funeral services for Helen Rogers will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Independence Baptist Church historical building with Rev. Butch Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Alfred Wagner, Fred Kettrick, Ray Averitt, Kevin Newman, Casey Newman, Daniel Perez, and Misti Perez. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Averitt and great-great nephews and nieces. Memorials may be directed to the Independence Cemetery, c/o Louis Newman, 8002 FM 390 N, Brenham, Tx. 77833.
