Helena Duch, 86, of Brenham, died May 20, 2009, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Duch was born February 7, 1923, in Washington County, Texas, to Willie and Ella Markwardt Meier. On April 27, 1939, she was married to Henry Duch in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. Mrs. Duch and her husband were owners of Brenham Mattress Factory, where she was also a seamstress. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Jim Herring of Tomball, Dot and Daniel Borchgardt of Brenham and Shirley and Wayne Coleman of Cypress; grandchildren, Jim Herring Jr., Craig and Laura Herring, Cody and Monica Herring, Doyle and Sara Borchgardt, DeAnn and Michael Wise, Chris and Julie Coleman and Jennifer and James Cathey; great-grandchildren, Trey Herring, Kendall Herring, Ashley, Brittany and Courtney Herring, Will, Addison and Megan Herring, Blaine and Suzanna Borchgardt, Weston and Avery Coleman and Addilyn and Kynslie Cathey; and sister and brother-in-law, Malinda and Frank Mosquinski of Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Duch; and sisters, Elnora Wellbrock and Willie Mae Lampe. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastor Charles Parnell and Pastor Lydia Paterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem or Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
