Henry JR Bredthauer, 90, of Burton, died December 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Regional Center in Bryan. Mr. Bredthauer was born in Burton on January 7, 1916 to Henry & Minnie Black Bredthauer. He attended Burton schools. On October 30, 1938, he was married to Evelyn Hauck, by the Rev. Ed Lampe. He was a rancher. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ of Burton, former member of the First Christian Church of Burton, he was a member of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, National Cattlemen s Association, and the Lee County Cattlemen. In 1994 he was named Outstanding Farmer & Rancher of Washington County. He ran a crossbred cow/calf & steer operation in Washington and Lee Counties and also ran a feeder operation for cattle in the panhandle. He was a member of the Burton Fire Department, the Top Cats Dance Club, member of the TFCRA and served as a director and now served as honorary director, and also served as a deputy Sheriff in Washington County. Survivors include his daughter Donna Winkelmann and husband Larry, of Burton; grandsons Heath Damon and Vance Warren Winkelmann: and sister-in-law, Ona Falke; nieces and nephews Jeanette Preuss, Lloyd Quebe, Carolyn Wittner, Robert Falke, Connie Gwyn, Bobette Gambrell, Pam Campbell, Becky Hall and Bill Bredthauer, and great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife, Evelyn Bredthauer, his parents, sister & brother-in-law, Connie & Otto Stoerner, brother & sister-in-law, Tommy & Miriam Bredthauer, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Erva & Henry Quebe and Elsie & Clarence Falke. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at St. John United Church of Christ in Burton, with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bredthauer will lie in state until 9:00 a.m. Wednesday and then he will be taken to Foehner Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27 at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John United Church of Christ Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
