Henry Al Ellermann, 81, of Brenham, died December 18, 2012 in Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, with Rev. Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30 Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Henry Al Ellermann was born December 5, 1931 in the Sandy Hill community of Washington County to Henry and Martha Schulze Ellermann. He attended Sandy Hill area schools, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On June 20, 1959, he was married to Nina Rothermel in St. John United Church of Christ in Burton. A former 4-H Gold Star winner, he was a member of the Screen Actor''s Guild, performing in several movies and made-for-t.v. series. After attending the National Auction Institute and graduating first in his class, Henry Al became a proficient auctioneer, conducting countless estate auctions and fund-raising auction events in Washington and surrounding counties, and was the auctioneer of the Junior Livestock Auction at the Washington Co. Fair for over 40 years. He also served as a member of the B.I.S.D. Board of Trustees, and was also active in the farming and ranching business. A member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, Mr. Ellermann served as chairman of the church council and on various other committees within the church. He served his community as president of the Washington Co. Fair and was a member of the fair''s executive board. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Rudy Dana and Rachel and Mark Niebuhr, all of Brenham; grandchildren: John Dana, Emily Dana, Justin Dana and Mattie Niebuhr, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Otto Fuchs of Carmine. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nina Ellermann, and his sister, Gertrude Ellermann. Serving as pallbearers are John Dana, Justin Dana, Robert Meyer, Mark Kuecker, Bruce Bockhorn, and Roger Ellermann. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Whiddon, Bill Thane, and Marvin Wellmann. Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, to Hospice Brazos Valley, or to any favorite charity.
