Henry Fuchs

Henry Lee Fuchs, 91, of Carmine died on September 9, 2006 at Care Inn Nursing Home in La Grange. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with the Reverend Paul Bohot officiating. Burial will be in the Carmine Cemetery Mr. Fuchs was born October 28, 1914 in Carmine, the son of Henry L. and Leonie Doerr Fuchs. He married Ora Nell Jacob on January 22, 1939 in Carmine where he and his wife spent their lives farming and ranching. Henry Lee was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine where he served as a church councilman in previous years. He was an active director of the Carmine State Bank until 2004, a member of the Carmine Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, La Bahia Turn Verein, Carmine Fire Department, served as a Director of the National Red Poll Cattle Association a Director of the Texas Red Poll Cattle Association, and a charter member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau. Mr. Fuchs had also been awarded the Farm and Ranch Soil Conservation award during his life. Survivors include his son, Norris Fuchs of Carmine, brother and wife, Durwood and Christine Fuchs of San Antonio, sister-in-law, Nelita Neutzler of Carmine, step grandson, Jody Polk of Katy and step granddaughter, Amy Avant of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Fuchs was preceded in death by his wife, Ora Nell, his parents, Henry L. and Leonie Fuchs, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Lillie Jacob, and sister and husband, Jocie Lynn and Robert Christeburg, and brother-in-law, Branch C. Neutzler. The family requests that memorials be given to the Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Pallbearers will be Darrel Neutzler, Branch E, Neutzler, James Schoenberg, Charles Rudy Weigelt, Carlton Hanson, Henry C. Fuchs, Matt Ellison and Jody Polk. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Foehner Funeral Home of Burton.
