Henry "Bubba" Hughes, 51, of Washington, died on July 4, 2014 at his residence, the husband of Kerry Hughes. Bubba was born January 26, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Henry and Nancy Hughes. He came back to Texas as soon as he could. He is a 1981 graduate of Brenham High School. On May 22, 1983 he was united in marriage to Kerry Kominczak at St.Peter''s Episcopal Church by Father John Bentley. Bubba loved life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, dad, Papa, son, and brother. He never met a stranger. He was a true horseman; he loved hunting and fishing, team roping and just a good time. Bubba was very active in Washington County 4-H. He was the Washington County 4-H Horse Club Leaders, Washington County 4-H Horse Judging Coach, 4-H Alumni, 4-H Family of the year in 2003, Washington County Fair Colt Chairman. He was active in the Gulf Coast Paint Horse Club, Central Texas Paint Horse Club and South Texas Horse Club. In 1979, he showed the National Champion Paint Horse in Youth Breakaway "Poco Leo Buck". He later won numerous championships and titles in the Paint Horse show circuit. As well as many open and sanction team roping''s. He was also a Tejas Vaquero where he continued to promote the western way of life. Surviors include his wife, Kerry Hughes of Washington; daughter and son-in-law Whitney and Zach Wagner, son Henry "Wade" Hughes, granddaughter Sydney Claire Wagner, father Henry Walter Hughes, Sisters and brother in laws Judy and Randy Kapchinski, Susannah and Edd Compton, mother-in-law JoAnn Kominczak, sister-in-laws and brother- in-laws, Kay and Ronnie Phillips, Lynda and Matthew Kubeczka, Russell Porter, uncles and aunts Herbert and Patricia Hughes, Jody and Alan Richards, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and more friend than you can count. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rachel Rene Hughes, mother Nancy Freeman Hughes, father in law Bennie Kominczak, grand parents, N. W. "Dick" and Norma Freeman, and Henry Water and Maude Bess Hughes. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Burch, Alan Dreyer, Robert Hahn, J.J. Nienstedt, Jay Neumann, Bennett Sachtleben, Tom Steinhoff, and Robert Tappe. Honorary pallbearers include John R. Braniff, Andy Dow, Kevin Harris, and Mike Pillow. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Peters Episcopal Church with Father Robert Gribble officiating, burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family and friends will be Monday July 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, Texas. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley or RhizoKids International. Bubba''s life was extended because of an organ transplant. This enabled him to care for his mother in her last days.
