Herbert Brauner

Herbert Henry Brauner, 91, of Burton, died Dec. 26, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Brauner was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Brenham, to Ernest Gus and Lydia Klander Brauner. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville. Mr. Brauner was educated at Long Point School. On May 4, 1935, he married Sophie Gummelt. Mr. Brauner was a farmer and retired employee of the Texas Department of Correction. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville. Survivors include his wife, Sophie Brauner of Burton; sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest Henry and Sharon Brauner of Needville and Dwayne and Tammy Brauner of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Herman Sebastian of Navasota and Sandy and Howard Lyness of Mill City, Oregon; 8 grandchildren, Becky Knight, Grover Sebastian, Gwen Lamascus, Ernest Brauner Jr., Shelly Pesak, Stacy Conner, Ryan Brauner and Rachel Brauner; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Vicky Lynn Sebastian. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29. Pallbearers will be Grover Sebastian, Ernest Brauner Jr., Stacy Conner, Ryan Brauner, Rodney Knight, Alan Lamascus, Fillip Pesak and Josh Sebastian. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Brauner, Mike Gummelt, Glen Geick, Junior Neumann, Ernest Neumann, Greg Smith and Gary Buro. Memorials may be given to Hospice or Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
