Herbert Janner

Herbert William Janner, 96, husband of Gloria Janner, died September 9, 2018 in Brenham.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

A private family graveside service will be held in the Janner Family Cemetery.

Mr. Janner was born August 18, 1922 to Karl “Charlie” Friedrich William and Emma Martha (Rust) Janner. He served his country in the U. S. Air Corps from September 28, 1942 until October 5, 1945. during World War II. On July 5, 1942, he married Gloria Gilmore. Herbert worked for Santa Fe Railroad in the Houston Belt Terminal for 29 years. After retirement, he spent time on his land, taking care of his cattle and chickens, and spent countless hours in his Lazy Boy recliner.

Mr. Janner was a full 32nd degree Master Mason, member of the Grand Mason Lodge #20, Scottish Rites Order of the Eastern Star #144, the Buddy Wright Post of the American Legion and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Gloria Janner; sons Darrel Janner (Kim) and Randy Janner (Sandy), all of Brenham; daughter-in-law, Pat Janner of Cypress; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Kay Janner of Somerville; sister-in-law, Elvera Janner of Brenham; sister, Laverne Weiss of Brenham; grandchildren: Billy and Shana Janner, Brent and Neisa Janner, Brian and Shae Janner, Jason and Stephanie Raborn, Ryan and Cheri Janner, and Matt and Sherry Janner; great-grandchildren: Hayden Janner, Sydney, Max and Jill Janner, Kylie and Evan Janner, Lane, Reid and Wyatt Janner, and Alexis and Jake Janner. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Janner was preceded in death by his son, B. J. Janner; parents, Charlie and Emma Janner; parents-in-law Joseph and Eula Gilmore; brother, Milton Janner; brothers-in-law, Herman Weiss, and Joe Gilmore; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Lawrence and Wayne Campbell and Eileen Gilmore Boeker.

Memorials may be directed to the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star of Somerville or to the charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements for Herbert William Janner are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
