Herbert Schovajsa, 75, of Bleiblerville, passed away November 26, 2012 in Bellville General Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012 in Nelsonville Brethren Church, with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating. Mr. Schovajasa will be in state at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Friday morning. Interment will follow in Pilgrim''s Rest Cemetery in Industry. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday from 3 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Herbert was born June 14, 1937 in Bleiblerville to Ladislav Ladgie and Marie Rasch Schovajsa. He was baptized and later confirmed in Nelsonville Brethren Church. A graduate of Bellville High School, Herbert married JoAnn Galle on Nov. 5, 1960 in Nelsonville Brethren Church, where they continued to be members over the years. In May of 1969, Herbert''s Meat Market was opened in Bleiblerville, providing slaughtering and processing services, with catering for special events beginning in 1971. Over the years, Herbert and JoAnn built their business to grow into a successful catering service, expertly preparing thousand of meals over the years for weddings, fundraisers, corporate events, and countless other functions. The delicious food that Herbert and his staff prepared will long be remembered by folks in Austin, Washington and surrounding counties. A lifelong member of Nelsonville Brethren Church, Herbert was also a member of the Bleiblerville Fire Dept. and the SPJST Lodge. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Galle Schovajsa of Bleiblerville, a son and daughter-in-law, Jerrel and Malinda Schovajsa also of Bleiblerville, and an aunt, Katie Dodd and husband Bert of Dime Box. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother. Serving as pallbearers are Greg Galle, Brian Gaskamp, Keith Janish, Donald Schovajsa, Michael Schovajsa, and Michael Tate. All employees of Schovajsa Catering will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to Nelsonville Brethren Church or to the Bleiblerville Fire Dept.
