Herbert Ullrich

Herbert Albert Ullrich, 90, of Brenham, died June 26, 2007, at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Ullrich was born Feb. 24, 1917, in the Shelby community of Austin County, Texas, to Frank and Minna Helweg Ullrich. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby. Mr. Ullrich served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On April 8, 1947, he was married to Marie Murski in Annunciation Catholic Church in Houston. Mr. Ullrich was a hardworking man, and from a young age he worked on the family farm. He attended many Skat tournaments and loved playing cards and dominoes. Mr. Ullrich was also an avid fisherman until the time of his stroke in 1987. He was a charter member of the Shelby American Legion Post 602 and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Industry. Mr. Ullrich was very proud of his grandchildren and was happy to live long enough to see his two great-grandsons. Survivors include his wife, Marie Ullrich of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Elwood Jaster of Brenham; grandchildren, David and Tammy Jaster of Brenham, Jill Jaster of Cypress and Holly Jaster of Gatesville; great-grandchildren, Justin and Colton Jaster; and sister-in-law, Leona Money of Houston; and brother-in-law, Johnnie Murski of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Renatha and Margaret Ullrich and Lillie Blezinger. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry with Father Tim Bucek, celebrant. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery in Shelby. Pallbearers will be Allen Christ, Henry Jankowiak, Alfred Buck Eckermann, and Erich Glenewinkel. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin and Colton Jaster. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
