Herbert Zuehlke, 85, of Brenham, died October 28, 2003 in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Zuehlke is the recent widower of Dorothy Wiesepape Zuehlke, who died on September 30 of this year. Born on March 30, 1918 in Old Washington, Texas, Herbert was the son of Paul & Olga Albrecht Zuehlke. He was baptized Friedens United Church of Christ at Old Washington on June 23, 1918 and was confirmed there on April 9, 1933. He received his education in the public school at Brown s Prairie. On November 7, 1943, Herbert and Dorothy were married in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. Mr. Zuehlke was a retired farmer and rancher and was also a retired employee of Farm & Ranch Supply in Brenham. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Paul & Mavis Zuehlke of Bryan, Texas; his sister, Nelda Kankel of Brenham and a brother-in-law, Almot Sommerfeld of Brenham. With his wife, Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: William Bill and Hermann; his sisters: Lillian and Elsie, as well as his sisters-in-law: Delores and Malinda. The Zuehlke family will receive callers in Memorial Oaks Chapel on Thursday evening, October 30 between 6 and 8 o clock. The funeral service will be held in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham on Friday morning, October 31, 2003 at 10 o clock. Pastor Lawrence Bade will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are John K. Reichwein, Robert Reichwein, Fritz Zuehlke, Milton Bosse, Arthur Zuehlke, Jimmy Allen Zuehlke, Daniel Ray Kankel and Ervin Sanders. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul s Television Ministry. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Memorial Oaks Chapel; 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
