Herman Roy

Herman Louis Roy II, 71, of Brenham, TX, died on January 13, 2024.

A memorial service will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Brazos Valley Brewing Company, 206 South Jackson Street, Brenham, TX 77833.

Herman was born on May 17, 1952 in Chicago, IL to Herman and Gwendolyn Holmes Roy. He married his wife, Karen Pratt O'Neill, on July 9, 2005. He graduated from St. Mary's University of San Antonio with a Finance Degree. He worked as an analyst for USAA Insurance Company.

Herman looked forward to his weekly lunches with friends on Thursdays and Fridays. He loved Disney and enjoyed trips to Disney World with family and friends. He loved going on cruises and when he was able, he loved to play golf. Herman loved watching the grandkids play baseball, football, bowling, softball, volleyball, band and choir performances. His favorite teams were Houston Astros, San Antonio Spurs, and Green Bay Packers.

Herman is survived by his wife, Karen O'Neill of Brenham, TX; step son and daughter-in-law, Trey and wife Stacy Hardy ; step daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and husband Marcus Mertins and Kimberly and husband Blake Rosenbaum all of Brenham, TX; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marsha and husband Mike Patrick of St. Charles, MO, Darla Roy and husband Matthew Hackler of Boerne, TX, Suzanne and husband Michael Leonard of McQueeney, TX; Dana Bynum (Richard Ryan)of Shertz, TX, and Daniel Ferguson (widower Jo-Anne Ferguson) of Poteet, TX; grandchildren, Jenna Hardy, Leah Hardy, Luke Hardy, Tyler Mertins, Hailey Mertins, Tristan Stefonowicz, Weston Mertins, Gigi Mertins, Wyatt Rosenbaum and Saylor Rosenbaum, all from Brenham, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, Herman and Gwendolyn Roy; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Oliver Pratt; and sister-in-law, Jo-Anne Ferguson.
