Herman H. Stroech, Jr., 76, of Brenham, died Jan. 8, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Stroech was born Feb. 26, 1928, in the Greenvine community in Washington County in the home of his parents, Herman and Emma Jaster Stroech. He was baptized April 22, 1928, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Pastor C. Ziehe and was confirmed Oct. 19, 1941, in the same church by the same pastor. Mr. Stroech attended Greenvine schools and was a graduate of Blinn College. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On Aug. 26, 1951, he was married to Louise Mae Weiss in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin by Pastor W.C. Poehlmann. Mr. Stroech was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem. He worked for Brenham Broom and Mop for 35 years and Blinn College for 14 years, where he retired from in August of 2003. Survivors include his wife, Louise Stroech of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sally Stroech of Brenham; grandchildren, Lucas Stroech and fiancee Chris Ann Henry, Carolise Stroech, Travis Eckert, and Sara Eckert; sisters, Esther Lueck and husband Walter, and Teckla Rust and husband Gus, all of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Anita Stroech of Bryan, Irene Brinkmeyer and husband Alfred of Houston; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Weiss and wife Allyne, Edwin Weiss and wife Edna, and Jimmie Weiss, all of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hulda Kluck and husband Herbert, and Erna Hahn and husband Ben; and one brother, William Stroech. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastor Bill Derrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Lucas Stroech, Travis Eckert, Walter Lueck, Jr., Glen Stroech, David Hanus, Wayne Brinkmeyer, Rick Weiss, and Rodney Weiss. Honorary pallbearers will be Carolise Stroech and Sara Eckert. Memorials may be given to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem or Hospice Brazos Valley.
