Howard Linford Bean Jr., 76, of Brenham, TX, died on February 4, 2023.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2023 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Chaplin Heidi Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery in Porter, Texas.
Howard was born on July 19, 1946 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania to Mildred Miller and Howard Linford Bean Sr. Along with his older sisters Linda and Carole he spent his childhood in Coopersburg, PA.
After graduating from Southern Lehigh High School and a short stint at business college, Howard served in the United States Navy as a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War. During his military service he met Dorryace Wilhelm from Texas, and the two were married in 1969.
The following year the young couple moved permanently to Houston, TX, where Howard began a long and successful career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry, working for Getty Oil, Texaco, and finally Chevron until his retirement in 2003. More recently Howard lived with his family in Brenham, TX.
Howard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mack and wife Kathy Bean of Brenham, TX; sister, Linda Bean of Bethlehem, PA; granddaughter, Emily Bean; nephew David Fake, and nieces Debra Anderson, Pamela Szal, Kim Marshall, Stacey Martin, Kelly Huffor, Brandy Mangrum, and Dawn Oakley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dorryace Wilhelm Bean; and sister, Carole Fake.
Memorials may be directed to Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
