Howard T. Emshoff, 79, husband of Bernice Tiemann Emshoff, passed away October 19, 2011 in Giddings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Born April 27, 1932 in Brenham to Herbert and Laura Rodenbeck Emshoff, Howard was baptized June 12, 1932 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by Pastor M. C. Hoermann, and confirmed there on April 14, 1946 by Pastor G. C. Senff. He attended Pleasant Hill School. On Sept. 30, 1951, he was married to Bernice Tiemann, also at St. James Lutheran of New Wehdem, by Pastor Eugene Meier. Howard was a farmer and rancher, and was employed as a livestock weighmaster at area livestock auctions. A lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, he was a member of various committees, as well as having served as the Sunday School Superintendent and church council president. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Tiemann Emshoff; son and daughter-in-law Weldon and Peggy Emshoff of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Fred Kollman and Becky and Robert Winkelmann, all of Bellville; grandchildren: Andy and Carrie Kollman of Bellville; Tammy and Blair Goebel of Cat Spring; Margaret Emshoff and fiancé Will Moyers of Austin; Shea Emshoff, both of Brenham; Wesley Winkelmann and fiancée, Erica Schneider, and Tyler Winkelmann of Bellville; sisters: Joy Finke of Spring, and sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth and Raymond McKinney of Bellville, and Faye and Darrell Evans of Wharton, brother-in-law Stanley Jackson and wife Belinda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Laura Emshoff, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis and Mathilda Tiemann, as well as a sister, Eloise Jackson and a brother-in-law, Ivan Finke. Serving as pallbearers are Andy Kollman, Blair Goebel, Wesley Winkelmann, Tyler Winkelmann, Shea Emshoff, Will Moyers, Weldon Emshoff, Bobby Pieper, and Richard McKinney. Honorary pallbearers are Tammy Goebel, Carrie Kollman, Margaret Emshoff, and Erica Schneider. Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.
