Ida May Kieke, 91, of Brenham, Texas, died January 20, 2006, in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. She was born February 13, 1914, near Burton, Texas and was the daughter of Ewald and Ida Neutzler Fuchs. She was baptized and confirmed at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. She was educated in Boundary School and Home Demonstration Club. On August 12, 1934, she was wed to Larey Kieke in the home of her parents. Mrs. Kieke was active in home demonstration and church work. She designed the activity building at Burton First United Church of Christ. Upon moving to Brenham in 1961, she became an active member at First United Methodist Church, where she remained a member until her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, AARP, and Texas Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Kieke also loved working with young children, so she entertained pre-school children at her home while their parents worked. She was also a seamstress, who enjoyed sewing many costumes for the Maifest, school programs, weddings, etc. She loved beautiful flowers in yards and parks, and so she worked many hours in her own yard tending to numerous flower beds and shrubs. Mrs. Kieke played a number of instruments and loved to sing. Survivors include her two sons, Llewellyn Kieke and wife Sharon of Brenham and Mauriello Kieke and wife Peggy Lynn of New Jersey; five grandchildren, Gaylynn Lawrence and husband David of Brenham, Matthew Kieke and wife Judy of Pennsylvania, Mark Kieke and wife Lisa of Pennsylvania, Cindy Randermann and husband Michael of Brenham and Jason Kieke of New Jersey; five great-grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Katelyn and Jenna Kieke of Pennsylvania and Chase Lawrence of Brenham; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Orry and Rinn Randermann of Brenham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larey Kieke, on November 6, 2002; her parents; her brother, Grover Fuchs; and her sisters, Vesta Garlin and Ellis Wickel. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 in First United Methodist Church in Brenham with Dr. Wesley Welborn officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Ralph Thiemer, Floyd Cooley, Milton Wickel, Barton Garlin, Delbert Garlin, Malcolm Fox, Harvey Fox and Douglas Kay. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
