Ida Meinecke

Ida R. Meinecke passed away on July 21, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold R. Meinecke; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lynne Meinecke; daughter and son-in-law Betty Meinecke and John Hargrove; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Therisa Meinecke; grandsons Jason Heaton and Max Meinecke; great-grandson Peyton Crutcher-Heaton; sisters Ruth Conner and Margie Smoot; brothers Sam Broesche, Ralph Broesche, Gerald Broesche, and Marcus Broesche, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ida was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Ida Meinecke was born December 12, 1931 in Rehburg, Texas to Frank and Lillian Hohlt Broesche. She was baptized April 3, 1932 in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Rehburg, and confirmed March 30, 1947. Ida was educated in Washington County schools and attended Burton High School. On April 28, 1951, she married Harold R. Meinecke in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Ida Meinecke was a lifelong member of PTA, a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge #6, and of the Sears Retired Employee Club. She retired from Sears Roebuck after fifteen years. She never met a stranger and consistently put others needs before her own. Funeral services for Ida R. Meinecke will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Rev. Ricardo Sinisterra officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. A visitation with family and friends will take place Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Sam Plumber, Floyd Rosenbaum, Melvin Meinecke, Kenneth Hetzel, Jacob Hetzel, Alvin Free, Raymond Dietrich, and Blake Kocurek. Honorary pallbearers are Alvina Day, Doris Rosenbaum, Doris Starker, Susan Dickson, and Lucille Meinecke. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul''s Lutheran church of Rehbug, Houston Hospice, or to a charity of your choice.
