Ida Rauch

Ida Bell Light Rauch passed away Sunday October 26, 2008 at Trinity Care Center. She was born January 4, 1921 to Ed and Ida Mertz Light. Ida Bell grew up in Carmine. She was baptized and confirmed on Palm Sunday March 4, 1934 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by Rev. H. Brunotte. She attended Carmine School and graduated from Giddings High School. She attended beauty school in Houston and became a licensed beauty operator. On August 18, 1945 she married William Otis Rauch. The couple made their home in Ledbetter and then Carmine. They had two children, Nancy Elise and Charles William. Ida Bell was a wife, mother, Sunday school and VBS teacher, and a Jr. Lutherans leader. She was a member of American Legion Auxillary-Quade-Werchan Post 338. She was a member of the Carmine Cemetery Association. Ida Bell worked in retail in Carmine at Hoppe''s Store, Afflerbach Grocery and Priesmeyer''s Dept. Store where she was the manager. She worked 13 years for and retired from the Brenham State School where she was known to her "children" as Mama Ida. Ida Bell was an excellent seamstress. She also crocheted beautifully and gave many of the items as gifts. She carried on her mother''s tradition of baking coffee cake and sugar cookies. The last years of her life in Carmine she enjoyed playing dominoes at Sr. Citizens and attending church. While living with Charles and Gloria, she was cared for by Lenora Koester, and these last three years at Trinity Care Center she lived a contented life full of as much richness and joy as her disease allowed. She is survived by daughter, Nancy and husband Gene Fuelberg of Burton; son, Charles and wife Gloria of Brenham; granddaughter, Kristine Fuelberg Morris and husband Burt of Hockley, TX; grandson, William Rauch and wife Connie and Connie''s children Phillip, Sandra and Christine and Christine''s daughters Justine and Alexa of Kyle, TX; and granddaughter, Jill Rauch Rybarski and husband Robert of Brenham, TX. She is also survived by sister, Mildred Otto and husband Marvin of Rutersville, TX; sister-in-law, Vivian Kieke of Pflugerville, TX; and sister-in-law, Bernadette Shaffer of Bishop, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis; two brothers, Charles Lee and Wilbert W. Light; sisters-in-law, Orie Rauch McClellan and Beatrice Light; and brothers-in-law, Lee Albers, Milton McClellan, Alton Kieke and Howard Shaffer. The family will receive guests from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine with Pastor Paul Bohot officiating. Interment will follow at Carmine Cemetery. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, Trinity Care Center of Brenham or Hospice Brazos Valley.
