Ileen Kiel

Ileen Olivia Werner Kiel, 88, widow of Lawrence Kiel, passed away on April 18, 2008 at Monument Rehab Nursing Center in LaGrange, Texas. Ileen was born August 9, 1919, in Carmine, Texas. Her parents were John Werner and Louise Emmrich Werner. Ileen was baptized on November 23, 1919 by Pastor Falkenberg, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, Texas. She was confirmed by Pastor Kralik at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on October 2, 1932. On April 23, 1941, she married Lawrence Kiel, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Round Top, Texas, by Pastor Kralik. Mr. Kiel preceded her in death on May 18, 2007, after 66 years of marriage. Ileen was a faithful and life long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top, a member of WELCA, served on the Altar Guild, taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir. Survivors include special niece Doris Jankowiak and husband Johnnie of Brenham, great-nieces, Christy Doss and husband Brad, and Chandra Jankowiak, brother-in-law Ezra Kelm, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Peggy Lee Kiel, parents, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law. Funeral services for Ileen Kiel will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top with Pastor John David Nedbalek. Burial will follow at Isaac Hill Cemetery . Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home, Burton, Texas. Memorials may be made to Issac Hill Cemetery or Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top.
