Irene Flentge

Irene Flentge, 80, widow of Otto Flentge, passed away September 16, 2008 in Trinity Medical Center. Irene was born June 7, 1928 in Wesley, Texas to Rosa Maurer Schulz and Henry E. Schulz. She was baptized March 3, 1929 in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by J. Appel, and confirmed April 18, 1943 by Pastor J. M. Mansur. She attended Welcome Salem School in Welcome. On October 15, 1949, she was married to Otto F. Flentge, Jr. in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Pastor Walter Wolf. Irene worked for Nat''s Tiny Tots for a number of years, and also Boeker''s Country Store. She was a mother and a homemaker. Her hobbies included playing cards and dominoes and tending the flowers in her yard. Irene was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Irene is survived by two children, Sharion Leiber and husband Willie of Pasadena, and Glenn Flentge and wife Cindy of Brenham; five grandchildren: Dr. Jodie West and husband Jim of Austin; Jason Leiber of Pasadena; Shelia Herzog and husband David Brenham; Craig Flentge and Brad Flentge of Brenham; five sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law: Milton Flentge and wife LaRuth, Helen Dannhaus, Mary Tockhorn and W. K. Felscher. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Otto Flentge; brother-in-laws Rubin Wensel, R. C. Dannhaus, Monroe Tockhorn and sisters-in-law Dorothy Felscher and Alma Wensel. Irene''s special friends are Billie Schomburg, Rosalie Moehring, Lillie Faist and husband Bennie, Walter Richter and Florian Bolcerek. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Irene Flentge will be held Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastor Charles Parnell and Pastor Lydia Paterson officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Jim West, Craig Flentge, Jason Leiber, Brad Flentge, David Herzog, Jeff Tockhorn, and Edward Wensel. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem.
