Irene Frye-Schroeder

Irene Bohne Frye-Schroeder, 87, of Brenham, died Sept. 4, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, with Pastor Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at St. Matthew Lutheran Church preceding the service on Friday, beginning at 12 noon. Irene Schroeder was born August 19, 1925 to Willie C. and Minnie Lehde Bohne in Brenham. She was baptized November 15, 1925 by Rev. G. Czerkus and confirmed April 2, 1939 by Rev. Rudolph Becker. After attending Brenham High School and Blinn College, Irene worked as a secretary in the Trust Department of First City National Bank of Houston, retiring July 31, 1983. On April 17, 1948, she married Aubrey Louis Frye in the First Methodist Church in Houston. He preceded her in death August 2, 1986. On October 15, 1987, she married Gliffard Merle Schroeder in Huntsville in Faith Lutheran Church. Mr. Schroeder passed away May 2, 2003. Survivors include stepsons David W. Schroeder of Lytle Creek, CA, Curtis E. Schroeder and wife Lisa, and children Jack, Olivia and Alexa of Oak Bluffs, MA., Terry H. Schroeder and wife Mary of Downey, CA, and daughters Teri Kay Schroeder Loehnert and husband John Loehnert, and children Jason, Megan and Erin of Lakewood, CA, Sheri Rae Schroeder Tagg and husband Brian Tagg, and children Nick, Chris, Josh and Hannah of Poway, CA; brothers-in-law Dover D. Schroeder of Houston, Roger T. Schroeder and wife Elvera of Brenham; sisters-in-law Lois Frye Jewell of Longview, Audrey Schroeder Kennedy of Mexia, and Bernell Schroeder Dimousch of Bryan. Also surviving is an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends made during her working career and during her retirement years. Irene had a special love and affection for her niece, Janita Frye Griggs and husband, Garney, of Houston, and for a special nephew, Stephen Broadus and wife Ann of New York City. A special thanks and gratitude for the years of love and friendship shared with the family of James and Charlene Kenjura and children, Candace, Christopher and wife, Danica, and Derrick and wife Brooke. Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Lee Kennedy, Derrick Kenjura, Curtis Schroeder, David Schroeder, Mike Wehring, Stephen Broadus, Clint Boriak, and David Bahn. Honorary pallbearers are Sigmund Ellermann, Eleanor Winkelmann Tiemann, Harry Heckmann, Glen and Kathy Wehring, Gerald Weghorst, and Mary Louise Weghorst Blackmon.
