Irma Lanier

Irma Lou Lanier, 65, of Brenham, wife of Carroll Lanier, passed away October 30, 2007 in Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Lanier was born March 3, 1942 in East Bernard, Texas to Fred and Emma Evans. She was educated in the Lamar Consolidated School District in Rosenberg. Mrs. Lanier was involved in many different aspects of the floral business with Flowers Make Scents in Brenham. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Whiteface Texas Federated Study Club, as well as working with her husband in the Lions Club. Mrs. Lanier enjoyed going to the International Lions Convention and visiting the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville. More importantly, she was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother who loved to watch her grandchildren play baseball. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Carroll Lanier; son Ronald Lanier of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Gary Averitt of Houston; brother Jesse Evans of Jackson, Alabama, grandchildren: Josh Averitt, Jacob Averitt, and Wacey Lanier, and a sister, Joan Jankowiak of Rosenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Lesley Kettler. Funeral services for Irma Lanier will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Charlie Matejowsky officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. A visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Ronald Lanier, Greg Kubeczka, Gary Averitt, Wacey Lanier, Jacob Averitt, and Josh Averitt. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
