Isabella Sommerlatte, 91, widow of John Sommerlatte, Sr., passed away March 7, 2013 in Industry, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2013 at Welcome Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Groesclose officiating. Interment will follow in the Industry Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Isabella Sommerlatte was born May 11, 1921 in Fayetteville, to Alvin and Adela Menking Coufal. She was baptized June 12, 1921 in Haw Creek, and confirmed October 18, 1936 in Fayette Co. On June 8, 1941, she was married to John Sommerlatte, Sr. in Warrenton. Isabella retired from Woodson Lumber Co. in May, 2002 after 22 years as a bookkeeper. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, cooking and baking. She was especially known for her pudding cake, kolaches, and coconut pies. Isabella was also an avid Houston Astros fan. Crocheting and needlework were also favorite pastimes. Survivors include a son, John Sommerlatte; daughters and sons-in-law Pauline and James Zwernemann, and Frances and Delphine Merkel; grandchildren: Scott and Crystal Zwernemann, Lisa and Randy Dobias, Delta and Richard Kolajajak, Deanna and Stephen Scheffer, and Matthew Sommerlatte; great-grandchildren: Mallory Dobias, Jordyn Zwernemann, Addison Dobias, Trevor Zwernemann, Kayree Kolajajak, Sterling Scheffer, and Korbin Kolajajak; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin Henry and Verna Jean Coufal, and sister-in-law, Earline Coufal, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Sommerlatte, Sr., a brother, Lester Coufal, sister and brother-in-law, Johnny and Madeline Movan, and daughter-in-law, Jane Sommerlatte. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Zwernemann, Randy Dobias, Matthew Sommerlatte, Richard Kolajajak, Stephen Scheffer, Ray Coufal, and Richard Poncik. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to Welcome Lutheran Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oak Haven Assisted Living in Industry for the loving care of Isabella during her stay there.
