Jackie Allen

February 29, 1932 — October 11, 2019

Jackie Lavern Allen, 87, died October 11, 2019 in Brenham.

Jackie Allen was born February 29, 1932 in Kirbyville, Texas to Francis Putnam and Hazell Beatrice (Fairchild) Hawthorn. She was baptized in the late 1940’s in the Baptist faith in Montgomery, Texas. On February 3, 1951, she married James R. (Bob) Allen in Beaumont.

Jackie’s love of her life was her husband, Bob. Together they devoted and celebrated their relationship with each other and their respective families.

Motorcycling fulfilled Jackie and Bob’s adventurous side, and she shopped for souvenirs of Christmas ornaments and bells throughout the U.S.

The term family extended to include the Texas Department of Public Safety, where her husband and sons had careers.

Jackie never met a stranger! Her family also included, The Order of Eastern Star #298 in Silsbee, Texas, where she was an active member for over 50 years. She shared her faith and found many good shopping companions and lifelong friends throughout Texas.

A wonderful cook, her brownies and hot water cornbread were famous at family gatherings! One of her greatest enjoyments in life were her grandkids and great-grandkids. “Nana” as Jackie was lovingly called, was an active part of their lives.

Survivors include her sons, James R. Allen, Jr. of Brenham, and Steve Allen and wife Judie of Victoria; sisters and brothers-in-law Brenda and Danny McNeill of New Braunfels, and Linda and Charles Westbrook of San Angelo; sister-in-law, Donna Hawthorne of Phoenix; grandchildren: Trey Allen, Tanya (Brian) Krueger; Michael (Jen) Smith; Katy (Geoff) Eisenbarth; and Sarah (David) Fultz; great-grandchildren: Hayley, Tabitha, Taelor, Austin, Tristan, Jordan, Jessie, Jenna, Madison, Truman, Coen and Deacon.
