Jackie Prigge, 68, of Brenham, died December 9, 2005, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Prigge was born January 5, 1937, in Burton, Texas, to Walter and Milda Wenzel Grote. She was a graduate of Burton High School, where she was a four-year letterman in basketball and played in a state championship game. She was also a graduate of Blinn College. On February 22, 1957, she was married to Willie Prigge, Jr. in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. She was a member of St. John s in Burton and the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Prigge had been employed at several businesses, including Burton Drug Store, Gillespie Pharmacy, Kuhn Claim Services, Lange Distributing Co., Seward Luggage, KWHI, and for many years she worked for Odell Lueckemeyer Construction Co. She was also the co-owner of P&R Catering. Survivors include her husband, Willie Prigge, Jr. of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Kenton and Sharon Prigge of Brenham; son-in-law, Don Hooks of Brenham; five grandchildren, Michael Hooks, Kyle Hooks, Jordan Prigge, Brock Prigge and Morgan Prigge; one brother, William A. Grote of Austin; and one sister, Joyce Reed Grote of Austin. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne Prigge Hooks; parents; stepmother, Maydell Grote; brother, Walter Grote, Jr., sister, Delores Grote; and a special aunt, Dora Troll. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 12 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Greg Felder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will begin at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton and from 3:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with the family present from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jordan Prigge, Brock Prigge, Michael Hooks, Butch Grote, Jim Vesper, David Roehling, Gary Schulze and Barney Meyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Morgan Prigge, Kyle Hooks, Odell and Willie Mae Lueckemeyer and all Elks Lodge members and their spouses. Memorials may be given to St. John s United Church of Christ Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
