Jacquelin Ketcham

Jacquelin Gertrude Ketcham went to be with her Lord and Savior and family members who preceded her November 21, 2014. She was born in Sanderson, Texas on October 4, 1920 to Rose and Harry Ketcham. She was their second child and first daughter. The family moved to Santa Rosa, Texas in 1923, as one of the first pioneering families in that area of Texas. She was confirmed as a full member into the Methodist church at the age of 12. Jacque was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harry and wife Frances Ketcham, and brother Ralph. At the age of three months, Jacque contracted bacterial spinal meningitis which left her completely blind for the rest of her life. Until November 21, she had never seen her mother, father or other loved ones. The first two years of her life were spent with difficult medical concerns resulting in multiple trips to Atlanta, Georgia to visit the country''s outstanding ophthalmologists at that time. Jacque grew up a happy child in a family and church who loved her. Music was her passion. She played the piano at the age of three, and continued to do so until the age of 91. She truly loved music of any kind from rock and roll to classical, the latter being her favorite. Jacque attended the Texas State School for the Blind in Austin . She leaves to cherish and treasure her memory, her brother Pat G. Ketcham and wife Montie of Kingsville, her sister Jody Tyson and husband Frank of Brenham, and sister-in-law- Joyce Ketcham of Santa Rosa. Also, Jacque had nine nieces and three nephews to whom she was close and whom she loved dearly: Sandy Bolton, Kathleen Berg, Kathy Fralik, Charlotte Goetz, Fred Ketcham, Pat D. Ketcham, Paul Ketcham, Bonnie Keener, Kay McCorkle, Zoe Rascoe, Jonnie Venglik, and Nancy Yeary. She also loved and was close to her four cousins: Dee Sharp, Bud Dieter, Kay Baines and Virginia Byron. Jacquelin was the third of five siblings to pass away in the last two years. At the end of her life here on earth, Jacque had multiple serious health issues, the last of which was leukemia. The family, with grateful hearts, would like especially to thank Dr. Nathan Simons for his compassion and consistent, excellent care of our loved one. We would also like to express our appreciation to the staff of caring, medical staff at Scott and White Hospital Brenham and also to those at Scott and White Hospital College Station. The family is also truly grateful to Jacque''s long time caregivers, Shelia Davis and Nancy Smith and close, faithful and dear friend, Kay Ivy. Funeral Services will be at First United Methodist Church, Brenham on Tuesday, November 25, at 4:00 PM with Pastors Jon Stouffer and Kay Reed officiating. A grave side service and interment will be at Restlawn Cemetary, La Feria, Texas. Saturday, November 29, at 2:00 PM.
