James Albert

James Harry Albert, 79, husband of Leslie Butler Albert, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 in Methodist Hospital in Houston. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday March 21, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rosenberg Cemetery in Rosenberg. The family will receive friends and family Sunday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Born October 2, 1931 in Lott, Texas to Harry and Mary Wright Albert, he was a graduate of San Jacinto High School and received his degree from the University of Houston. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Albert served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Leslie Albert of Brenham; son David Albert of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Gene Montalvo of Spring and Deanna and Steve Looney of Waverly, W.V.; three grandchildren: Steven Looney, Mathew Looney, and Jennifer Montalvo; brothers and sisters-in-law Gerald and Beverly Albert of Conroe, and Leonard and Bennie Jean Albert of Madisonville; sister-in-law Natalie Tolman of Arkansas. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother, Charles Albert. A vice-president of Washington County State Bank, Mr. Albert also served as vice-president of Allied Bank in Houston. He had since retired from the banking industry. Memberships included Graham Lodge 20 AF & AM, where he served as a past master of the Lodge, and the Arabia Temple. He served as president of the Brenham Shrine Club. Hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes, and he was always ready to help anyone, especially his family. Serving as pallbearers are his nephews and grandsons: Mathew Looney, Steven Looney, Dave Tolman, Garon Albert, Tim Albert, and Terre Albert.
