James Aldridge

James E. Sonny Aldridge, 77, of Burton, TX, died May 20, 2004, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, TX. Mr. Aldridge was born April 7, 1927, in Sarah, Mississippi, to James M. and Robbie Brandon Aldridge. On July 24, 1948, he married Carolyn Peacock in Houston. Mr. Aldridge served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1943 to 1948 and from 1950 to 1951. He was a retired homebuilder. Mr. Aldridge was a member of Brenham Presbyterian Church and the Thorndale Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Greater Houston Homebuilders Association, Southwest Cattle Association and Simmental Cattle Breeders Association. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Aldridge of Burton; daughter, Mary Kathryn Aldridge of McKinleyville, California; sons, James Michael Aldridge and fiancée Gay Adams of Houston and Robert William Aldridge and wife Candy of Houston; and granddaughter, Shellie Lynn Aldridge of Katy. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22 in Oak Rest Cemetery in Gay Hill. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 24 in Brenham Presbyterian Church in Brenham with Rev. Malcolm McIver officiating. Memorials may be given to a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
