James Dwight Kuykendall, 60, passed away March 12, 2017 at his residence in Brenham.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastors Jim and Dayle Burkhart officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
James Kuykendall was born November 4, 1956 in Slaton, Texas to Jack and Mary Frances (Evrage) Kuykendall. He worked as a carpenter in the construction business. On October 10, 2015, he was married to Debra Pflughaupt.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, skiing, and riding his motorcycle. A favorite pastime was giving rides to family members in his favorite “toy”, the Slingshot by Polaris.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Kuykendall of Brenham; his mother, Mary Frances Kuykendall of Brenham; sons James Casey Kuykendall of Waco; stepsons Chris Peschel of Brenham, and Dylan Peschel of Bleiblerville; stepdaughters Ashley Arnold and husband Josh of Ellinger; Sarah Peschel and friend Kyle Asher of Bleiblerville, and Paige Peschel and fiancé Chris Farrer of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law Leland and Katie Kuykendall, Mark and Diane Kuykendall, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gene and Christi Pflughaupt, James and Jo Plfughaupt, Cindy and Steven Wisnoskie Wayne and Kristina Pflughaupt, Craig and Kerry Pflughaupt, and Jeff Pflughaupt; sisters and brothers-in-law Cheryl and Ken Hargrave, Carolyn and Monroe Petzolt,; step-grandchildren: Kaylon Neumann, Khyler Asher, Jaxon Peschel, Annabel Arnold, Bennet Peschel, and Carmen Farrer; mother-in-law, Ruby Pflughaupt.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kuykendall, and father-in-law, Gene Pflughaupt.
Serving as pallbearers are John Holton, James Holton, Chris Peschel, Dylan Peschel, Stephen Alessi, and Milton “Peanut” Asher.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley.
