James Meyer

James Lee Meyer, 70, died September 11, 2017 at his residence in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

James Lee Meyer was born September 7, 1947 in the Gay Hill Community of Washington County to Fred and Caroline Ganske Meyer. He was baptized October 6, 1947 in Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Gay Hill. James served his country in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War. He was employed by Kopper Industries in Somerville, Texas.

Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Johnny Ligues; brother and sister-in-law, Barney and Dorothy Meyer, all of Brenham; nephews Ryan Stegmann and wife Christal of Mansfield; Terry Stegmann and wife Patricia of Brenham; Kevin Meyer of Houston and niece, Janis Cordova and husband Jamie of Brenham.

Serving as pallbearers are Gary Stelter, Joe Hromas, James Richter, David Boenker, Rufus Lange, and James Vaughn.

Memorials may be directed to the Prairie Hill VFD, Gay Hill VFD, or to the Burton American Legion Post 242, or any favorite charity.
