James Thomas Self, 61, of Carmine, died October 30, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Self was born September 10, 1948, in Shelby, North Carolina, to Glenn Paul and Mildred Jane Middleton Self. Mr. Self attended Sam Houston High School and Massey Business College and served in the U.S. Army. He was baptized in 1956 in North Central Baptist Church. On March 11, 1995, he was married to Jacqueline Laszlo in Somerville. Mr. Self was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Self; his mother, Mildred Self; sons and daughters-in-law, James Quinton and Jade Self, Eli Thomas and Melissa Self, Dennis and Nena Surface, Frank Steven Surface and Michael Shawn Surface; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Walls and Steve Netardus; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Paul Self; and daughter, Janna Ray Self. Visitation will be held at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton Monday, November 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Jamboree Ranch. Burial will be in Carmine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Biddle, Steve Netardus, Sam Murski, Josh Eckert, Ken Freeman and Robert Zientek. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley.
