James Herbert Wiesepape, 73, of Brenham, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. James was born August 20, 1933, to Herbert and Ella Blasé Wiesepape at their Sandy Hill home. He was baptized September 17, 1933 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill and confirmed in 1947 in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. James attended all of the surrounding rural schools in which his mother taught. He was a graduate of Brenham High School and received his associate degree from Blinn Jr. College. He continued his education at Sam Houston State University. On July 17, 1955, he married Dorothy Ann Schulze in St. John s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. James served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Upon his honorable discharge he became a certified peace officer, beginning his career in 1960 as a deputy with the Washington County Sheriff s Office. In 1968, James accepted the newly created position of Security Officer at Blinn College. He established the security department there and served as Chief of Security for 26 years. Following his retirement from Blinn, he worked part time for Washington County as a court bailiff. James enjoyed raising cattle and a variety of animals, fishing, watching baseball, playing lotto and most of all, exchanging humorous stories with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ella Wiesepape; father-in-law, Herbert Schulze, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Herbert Schulze, Jr. and Howard Butch Schulze; and sister-in-law, Doris Kuhlmann Daniels. James is survived by his wife Dorothy; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Pat Majewski; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Linda Wiesepape and Craig and Sherry Wiesepape, all of Brenham; grandchildren, Shannon Wiesepape, Kelly Majewski, Chad Wiesepape, Jamie Wiesepape, Ryan Majewski, Josh Wiesepape and Heather Wiesepape; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Christian Wiesepape; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jean Wiesepape of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; mother-in-law, Ruby Schulze of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Floreen Schulze and Delores Schulze, both of Brenham; and numerous nieces nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 at St. John s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor David Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Kenneth Schulze, Joel Schulze, Scott Schulze, Jason Schulze, Dustan Schulze and Howard Kuhlmann, Jr., and friends, J.W. Jankowski and Tommy Kammerer. His nephew, Bill Wiesepape, and all local law enforcement officers will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to St. John s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill or the Washington County Peace Officers Association. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
