Janet Earlene Miller entered into eternal life Monday, January 13, 2014, with her family at her bedside in Bryan, TX. She was born October 3, 1941 in Sullivan County, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Arthur Rose, and brother Reverend Melvin Rose. She lived most of her life in Portage, Indiana before moving to Houston, TX, in 1985. For the past 20 plus years she has resided in Brenham, TX. Jan was a food service manager during her working career at various schools, a nursing home, Rice University and Texas Women''s State Prison in Gatesville, TX. Her favorite job was serving teenagers at the Junior High School in Portage, Indiana. She was a very talented cook and loved cooking for her family. Although her husband was a truck driver for many years, he never ate along the way at truck stops; she sent him off for each trip with enough homemade meals to last until he returned home again. She also enjoyed cake decorating making many birthdays and weddings very special. She had a great love for her many cats and especially, her Black Lab, Cindy, whom she loved dearly. Jan''s lifetime goal was to live her life for God. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. In recent years many of her days were spent studying her bible and watching Christian TV. Jan is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Wayne L. Miller, Sr. He was her first love and loved him with all her heart. Three sons, Reverend Wayne Miller, Jr. wife Lana, of Murfreesboro, TN, Steve Fulton wife Gloria, of Katy, TX, and Tom Miller wife Cathy of Katy TX, Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, her sister Evelyn Denman of Tampa, FL and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday January 17, 2014 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Rev. John Paul Cruz will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Jan will be laid to rest at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
