Jean Ray Chambers passed away peacefully in her home in Brenham, Texas on April 30, 2018 after succumbing to cancer and surrendering herself to Jesus. She was 75.
Born July 30, 1942 in Houston, Tx, along with her twin sister she grew up in a loving family with two other brothers during difficult times. Twice widowed and simultaneously blessed and tasked with raising two children, Jean lived her life in a selfless way that displayed strength, courage, generosity, sacrifice, compassion and love, as well as a vulnerability that only few could see.
She loved.
A devout Christian, Jean was blessed with the beautiful community in the Cowboy Church of Brenham, coworkers and family. She was loved by everyone. She was caregiver for her late husband, mother and father during the times of their passings and frequently reached out to members of her community that were ill or in need, even if it was just a get well card.
Jean loved gadgets and taking pictures that she would turn into greeting cards. She was an animal lover, a trait passed down to her daughter and son. She was a twin, the older one, don’t you forget. She was left handed. And she was sharp as a tack, sometimes fooling even her own son (who is writing this) with her sometimes dry and funny humor, a trait that also runs in the family.
Jean Chambers is survived by her twin sister and brother in law Joan and Melton Cowart of New Ulm, Tx, brothers Earl Cass and Richard Cass of Houston and Brenham, Tx, respectively, her daughter Robin Hamilton of Clifton, Tx, and son Tim Keough of Austin, Tx.
She is preceded in death by her first husband who was the father of her children, her late husband, her mother, and her father.
A short service will be held on the grounds of the new Cowboy Church of Brenham on Monday, May 7 at 11am.
The grounds are located at: 4420 Hwy 105, Brenham, Texas, 77833.
In lieu of flowers Jean has requested that love to be in the form of donations to the Cowboy Church of Brenham, where she will be supervising the remaining construction and following Sunday services from her place in Heaven.
Donations to the Cowboy Church of Brenham can be sent to: Cowboy Church of Brenham, P.O. Box 2516, Brenham, Tx 77834.
