Jeannette Carroll

Jeannette Lee McBride Carroll, 87, of Wallis, TX, died on May 15, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Jeannette was born on July 3, 1936 in Marion, TX to James A. and Laura Kanier McBride. She was baptized at West University Methodist Church. She married her husband, Leonard Lamar, in 1957.

Jeannette attended The University of Texas. She worked many years as a distributor and newspaper  carrier for the Houston Chronicle. She also worked for the Bellaire Police department as a school crossing guard. She loved watching all sports, but especially football. Some of her favorite teams were the Houston Oilers, The Texas Longhorns, New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Houston Rockets, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

During her life, she was a mascot and was involved in the Girl Scout Troop as a counselor. She enjoyed swimming, bingo, and gambling. Her favorite casinos were Naskila Casino, Coushatta Casino, and WinStar World Casino. She enjoyed playing Mexican Train and Gin Rummy with her family and friends, but what she enjoyed the most was being a mother, granny, and great granny to all of her children.  

Jeannette is survived by her children Joel Lamar, Larry and Roxanne Lamar, Cherylann McNease, Jeannette Lamar, Kenneth Lamar, Pamela and James Weeks Jr., and Marissa Nix-Burke; her grand-children Jamie, Kari, Darcy, Corrie, Craig, Michael, Marlissa, Shawn, Cherilynn, Dillon, Christian, Krystal, Victoria, Walter, James, Edward, and John, 15 great-grandchildren, and her brother James A. McBride II. She is preceded in death by her great grandparents; grandparents; mother and father; aunts and uncles; sons, Jimmy and Kevin Lamer; and grand-children Melanie and Chad McNease.
