Jerry Frank Mathauser, 93, of Brenham, husband of Vivian Mathauser, passed away on December 23, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Calvin Beckendorf officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Jerry was born on January 5, 1917 to Frank and Bertha Prohaska Mathauser in Shreveport, La. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University, and worked in construction as a building engineer. Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houston and SPJST of Houston. He was a loving caregiver to his mother for many years. Fishing at Galveston was a favorite pastime. Serving in the Merchant Marines, Jerry traveled the world, and was privileged to assist at Pearl Harbor after the Japanese attack. Survivors include his wife, Vivian Mathauser of Brenham, step-daughter Rosalind Boyce of Brenham; her daughter, Kimberley Froboese and husband Troy, and their children Travis and Paige; niece: Ann Chastang and husband David of Temple; nephew, Dr. Arnold Lesikar and wife Sharon of Georgetown, grand-nephew Eric David Chastang of Temple, and grand-niece Jennifer Odom and husband Tim of San Angelo, Tx. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Frank Mathauser, and a sister, Harriet Lesikar. Serving as pallbearers are David E. Chastang, Eric D. Chastang, Fred Stoerkel, Dave Thorpe, Troy Froboese, and Travis Froboese. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley of Brenham.
