Jesse Ray Stainer, 71, of Carmine, the husband of Vera Joyce Jones Stainer, died Saturday morning at his family residence. Mr. Stainer was born October 5, 1935, in Baytown, Harrris County, TX the son of Jesse John and Ida Caroline Sjoldander Stainer. He was a welder for Brown & Root for 25 years. He was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Mr. Stainer loved to farm, work with his animals and spend time with his family. Survivors include is wife, Vera Joyce Stainer of Carmine; son Martin Stainer of Channelview, son and daughter-in-law Kelly and Rexanna Butler of Flint, daughters and sons-in-law Debra and John Swartz of Bend, OR, Brenda Rae Bumpas of Brownwood, and Rhonda & David Eaves of Baytown; sister Ellen Sowders of Baytown; fourteen grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law John E. Sowders and great granddaughter Silvia. Funeral services for Jesse Ray Stainer will be held Monday, August 20, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with pastor Paul Bohot officiating. Interment will follow at Carmine City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Serving as pallbearers are Gary Hickman, Arthur Oates, James Oates, Jimmy Detro, Dean Ullrich, and David Eaves. Memorials may be given to Martin Lutheran Church or Hospice Brazos Valley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Home of Burton.
