Jessie Reue

Jessie Nell Watkins Reue, a long-time resident of Ganado, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in Katy, TX close to her daughter, Patricia Ann Reue Bumgardner. Mrs. Reue was born September 25, 1914 in Blanco, TX. She was one of seven children born to John Edward and Emily Conway Watkins. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, four brothers Eric, Ivan, Paul and Lynn and two sisters Arie Jonas and Janet Langham. The family lived in the San Antonio area. Nell attended the University of Texas receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Later in life, she earned her Masters degree from the University of Houston. Nell married Raymond Henry Reue from Ganado in 1939. After WWII, the couple moved to Ganado where Raymond was the school principal and Nell taught the first grade for over 40 years. She loved teaching and the students loved her, too. Nell and Raymond celebrated 67 years of marriage before Raymond died in 2005. They were truly a "couple." Nell and Raymond had one child, Patricia Ann. Patricia has two daughters, Kimberly Ann Lambeth and Brandi Lynn Gilliland, and they gave the Reues three great grandchildren Ashley Gilliland and Zachary & Lindsay Lambeth. They all live in Katy. Jessie Nell was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be missed greatly by her whole family. There will be a grave-side service at Prairie Lea Cemetery on FM 389 east of Hwy 290 in Brenham on Sunday, July 29, at 9:30 AM.
