Jimmie Hahn, Jr., of Brenham, passed away March 8, 2017 at his residence in Brenham.
Jimmie was born May 26, 1936 in Somerville to Jimmie and Alma Wood Hahn. He was baptized at the age of ten at Grace Lutheran Church, and confirmed into the Christian faith there in 1950. He graduated from Brenham High School in 1954. Upon graduation, he attended Southern Methodist University, where he studied Civil Engineering. In 1957, Jimmie began working for his father at Jimmie Hahn, Inc. At the time, Jimmie Hahn, Inc. had only one plant, and now the business has grown to seven plants. He served as president of Jimmie Hahn, Inc. and La Grange Concrete & Aggregate, Inc. for 35 years.
During high school, Jimmie participated in almost every sport, including football, track, basketball, and baseball, lettering fifteen times. He was chosen as All-State and All-American in football. His high school track team won two state championships, and his high school basketball team placed second in state. His love of sports continued in college, where he lettered seven times in football, baseball and track. While attending Blinn College, he was All-Conference in football.
Jimmie was active in community organizations. He was a scoutmaster for the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts for ten years. He served as a manager and umpire for the Little League of Washington County for twelve years, and on the board of directors for Brenham Maifest Association for fifteen years. Jimmie was past president of the Brenham Jaycees and past Texas state vice-president of Texas Jaycees. He also served as past-president of the Brenham Country Club, as an elder at Grace Lutheran Church, past director of the Brenham Chamber of Commerce, and past director of the Brenham Industrial Foundation.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Casey and Lisa Hahn, Neal and Holly Hahn, and Michael Hahn; stepsons and step-daughters-in-law, Philip and Lois McNicoll, John and Karyn McNicoll, Tony and Tracy McNicoll; stepdaughter, Lisa Dreyer; grandchildren, Kortney Moore and husband Colby, Lane Hahn, Jason Hahn, C.J. Hahn and wife Sherry, Angela Hatch, Sydney Hahn, Blake McNicoll, Meagan McNicoll, Marshall McNicoll, Rachel McNicoll, Daniel McNicoll and wife Candice, Jake McNicoll, Heather McNicoll-Brewer and husband Ricky, Amanda Dreyer and Andrea Dreyer Dykes and husband Nick; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Charles Ray Hahn and wife Cynthia; and sister, Mary Ann Schulte; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geraldine Hahn; and brother-in-law, Charles Schulte.
Funeral services for Jimmie Hahn, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Honorary pallbearers will be all employees at Jimmie Hahn, Inc.
